What did the Muslims ever do for us?

In the course of human history empires are a relatively new phenomenon, spanning only the last 3000 years or so. From the ancients to modern day Britain, empires are born out of violence and domination, spurred on by greedy men with a desire to rule over the earth and all its inhabitants. Empires control resources and dictate cultures. It is for this reason we must acknowledge all empires, for the duration of their rule, if we are to gain an accurate assessment of human development, in the interests of provenance and posterity.

Take the Moors for example. Neglected in the history books for the most part, owing to the Europeans penning said tomes, their contribution to humanity has been effectively erased or minimised because it stands in direct contradiction to the white supremacist’s creed; that savages were to be civilised from the depths of their spiritual ignorance. They burned books, and monuments of cultural significance, much like Isis did in Palmyra, to the shock and dismay of enlightened Europeans who condemned this destruction of world heritage. I wonder whether the world had reacted to similarly to the barbarism of the conquistadors, or if it had in fact reveled in the bloodshed, as it does today whenever there is a terrorist attack committed against Muslims. I imagine they came out with the same excuses then as they did now “Europe for Europeans!” regardless of the rivers of blood trailing down from the bodies of innocents whose only crime was to pray to the one true God via their own cultural lens. The genocide of the Moors was as much about the colour of their skin, if not more, than it was about a Christian God, as we can see in the blackface festivals celebrated by prevaricating bigots from Spain and Britain to the Netherlands.

The reins of their (Moors) horses were as fire, their faces black as pitch, their eyes shone like burning candles, their horses were swift as leopards and the riders fiercer than a wolf in a sheepfold at night . . . The noble Goths [the German rulers of Spain to whom Roderick belonged] were broken in an hour, quicker than tongue can tell. Oh luckless Spain!

Quoted in Edward Scobie, The Moors and Portugal’s Global Expansion, in Golden Age of the Moor, ed Ivan Van Sertima, US, Transaction Publishers, 1992, p.336

Sure, the Moors were probably a frightening spectacle when they invaded Spain in the 8th century but as is the way of empires, wealth and security leads to knowledge, and peace, and eventually empathetic non violence. Empires reach their end when the leaders peak in terms of civility, unprepared for savage invading forces, unable to defend themselves against the onslaught of rabid violence. Perhaps this is why Britain can never just sit back and relax, always pre-emptively asserting itself with made up wars.

The world has chosen to focus on the demise of the Moors as a natural conclusion to the decree ordained by the lord almighty. They had provoked God’s wrath with their salacious ways and fallen out of favour. It is this notion that has sustained the skewed version of history from both sides of the conflict. Europe has effectively slut shamed Muslims into submission who cannot respond with a clear conscience because they bought into the propaganda (having suffered such a humiliating defeat) and now conduct themselves with the same terror inspiring zeal of medieval Christian soliders, whom God allegedly favoured, to appease Him.

Without the Moors, there would be no ‘Spanish’ guitar (guitarra morisca). This is what we mean by appropriation; the Moors are not celebrated like the British or Romans or Greeks, despite their many contributions in the advancement of humanity, they have been denied their historical dues by usurping Europeans who took all the credit. Moors pioneered many medical treatments, identifying hemophilia as a condition, inventing anesthesia for the purpose of surgery, and treating hydrocephalus for example. Groundbreaking and lifesaving methods such as how to perform a ligature were first documented in Al Andalus.

The Moors invented watches, a fact all Europeans should remember when they tell the time, especially given they also invented the first sundial to show time in equal measures where previous models varied according to the seasons. Where would we be without this vital innovation? If the Moors had never existed newspapers/books might never have been a thing. They invented a printing device 100 years prior to the ‘invention’ of the printing press. Ibn Firnas invented the metronome in the 9th century, during a time the Europeans referred to as ‘the dark ages’. Where would the human race be without any of these black and brown Muslim visionaries, for whom the dark ages meant a golden age?

My own ancestors, the Mughals, were a creative trailblazing peoples I am determined to resurrect. The first sugar rolling mills appeared during the Mughal empire. They invented the first hookah or water pipe, for the purpose of smoking tobacco. According to Wikipedia modern metallurgists “thought it was technically impossible to produce metal globes without any seams” until they were rediscovered in the 1980s, 20 or so seamless celestial globes created during the Mughal empire. I learned very recently that my ancestors had built Lahore fort and Badshahi mosque, not forgetting the Taj Mahal. Ah, that universal symbol of devotion, a wonder of the world, steeped in Mughal history yet neglected for that very fact, denied the care and attention that should be afforded to a world heritage site. India hates Muslims, it is quick to condemn and even kill them, for eating beef, among other things and stripping citizenship from millions yet it reaps the world’s praises for the creation of something it had nothing to do with. The Indian government has let it rot. The Taj Mahal is a painful reminder of the erasure and appropriation of Muslim ingenuity, pinned together by enemies of enemies, whose party line is a collective resistance to the creeping shariah of Islam, despite their own grievances and in-fighting. These relics are stripped of their roots, co-opted by coercive powers and serve as a reminder of how we (Muslims) have been subjugated.

I’ve never liked being a part of a group, I can only be myself one to one. I think group behaviour is terrifying. When groups of likeminded people band together, it no longer matters whether something is right or wrong, the majority has the power to claim up is down. I’ve seen adulterous affairs justified in this way, and sex abuse cover ups. I’ve been groomed in this way, isolated, misrepresented, because I wouldn’t toe the party line. A similar malfeasance has been inflicted on Muslims.

In my almost 40 years of experience on this earth I have learnt the difference between what they say and what they really mean. Christians invading India were shocked at the inhumane practice of sati committed by fanatical Hindus, whereupon the female spouse jumps, or is thrown, onto the funeral pyre, because she cannot exist without her husband. They condemned them as idolaters and savages and appealed to Muslim Indians as they (rightly) believed in the one true God. To the Hindus they condemned the Mughals as occupiers and destroyers of Hindustan, a country for Hindus. In this way they divided and conquered and continue to do so to this very day. Far right Hindutva and their mascot Modi brutalise millions in their quest for a Hindu state, supported by western nations who look the other way when Muslims are being slaughtered, see also the Rohingya in Burma being summarily executed by Buddhist monks (ffs) for an example of one modern day atrocity. Religion of peace they scoff, when mocking Muslims yet Buddhists extinguishing life in cruel and unusual ways has escaped everyone’s attentions. See the Israel/Palestine conflict for another example of white supremacist divide and conquer, effectively polarising Muslims and Jews who have historically fought together against the scourge of Christianity (see Moorish Spain).

Tyrants all over the world look to the British empire for inspiration. Hitler himself was an admirer of the British rule in India, it was what prompted him to enact his own genocide. The holocaust is widely taught and accepted for the most part, because the teachers are white supremacists who exemplify divide and conquer of ‘minorities’ and use it as a tool to silence other ethnic groups. When an African person speaks of King Leopold and his slaughter of 10 million Congolese and questions why this isn’t taught in schools like the holocaust is, they are not denying Jewish history or cheapening it by comparing it (as I was once accused when I warned that current events were a catalyst to holocaust levels of genocide) they are appealing for consistency. When I highlighted the similarities between the targeting of Jews in Germany and modern day Muslims in Britain I was chastised for daring to compare. 11 million Indians were starved to death by Churchill who redirected grain to British forces during the war. Was this not a holocaust too? Not when the history book writers are white, evidently.

In a world where white supremacy holds all the power and writes the narratives, a maleficence of biblical proportions has been committed against believers of the one true God. Christians have employed idolaters to act as their proxies, to protect their global interests, and will shun them when they are no longer effective. Historical allies have been pitted against one another and the flames are fanned periodically to ensure their estrangement. Muslims are caricaturised as uncivilised, barbaric, wanton in their misogyny and to be fair, many of them are, but they weren’t always like this, they weren’t always so broken and reactionary, they were made that way by Christians.

Perhaps if we acknowledged the real truth, the many contributions made by Muslims to the sciences and arts, and the pursuit of pleasure with inventions like chess, poker, and alcohol (how many words do you know prefixed with ‘al’?) such inventions that changed the course for humanity and propelled Europeans to their ‘enlightenment’, Muslims might not be so angry or even perceived as such. Europeans weren’t beamed down to earth by God as naive fledgling angels innocent of all crimes and wrongdoing, hitting every branch of the enlightenment tree on the way down, no, they appropriated the hard work of Muslims and denied the historical truth, leaving those famed rivers of blood in their wake.

The transference of white supremacists must be called out for what it is, the fear of a comeuppance, of the chickens coming home to roost. They keep the conflict alive.

181 CEOs are Thinking of New Ways to Maximise Profit and Evade Justice for Crimes Against Humanity

Whether it’s Caitlin Moran, Maajid Nawaaz or the CEOs of Amazon and Apple, the rich and powerful are rattled. 181 CEOs have decided that stakeholders putting profit over people is no longer the capitalist way (even though that is essentially what capitalism is).

For years they have sat by idly and ignored our pleas to take a stand against policy that in some cases actively promotes division, whether that is related to the environment or communities, instead filling their coffers off the blood sweat and tears of the global south and minorities within western nations.

Take Amazon for eg, at a time when Trump was kicking out Mexicans and banning Muslims from entering the country, Amazon allowed the sale of nazi paraphernalia via its 3rd party sellers. The pressure group Sleeping Giants, with its trailblazing campaign to #bankruptfascism, managed to convince thousands of advertisers to shun Breitbart, a far right nazi news service that has been instrumental in the dissemination of nazi propaganda, most notably teaming up with Steve Bannon and employing Milo Yiannopoulis to grow their white supremacist network, yet Amazon in all its wisdom, refused. Amazon have been known to remove advertising if it violates their terms of service but in this instance, it failed to act. Amazon refused to engage on the matter, ignoring journalist requests for comment on their position, choosing to say nothing even when Sleeping Giants hired a billboard truck to drive around Seattle asking them to ‘stop funding bigotry’. They have been beyond reproach.

This announcement is no doubt a reaction to the growing resistance to the 1% who’ve had the power to quell conflict yet instead fanned its flames with their indifference and seeming inability to observe their own company policies but ultimately it is profit that drives these people. That profit has been on the wane, I personally haven’t used Amazon since the Sleeping Giants campaign, where previously I relied on it for almost all of my shopping needs. Yes, it was a pain in the arse trying to locate new retailers who weren’t just as bad, and it hit my pocket (because who can price match Amazon?) but once I’d consciously made the choice to stop funding these enablers of fascism, I stuck to it. Never taken an Uber either, specifically because they scabbed the New York Taxi picket line. I haven’t shopped with Amazon in over two years and I never will again and I wouldn’t be surprised if a sizeable chunk of Amazon’s customers have followed suit, prompting this bizarre and completely disingenuous pledge to put people first over their own pockets.

I wonder what might have happened if generations past had taken a stand against household names like Mercedes and Hugo Boss after they were complicit in the atrocities of world war 2. These huge corporations put profit first then and continue to do so with little or no reaction from the majority. Hugo Boss dressed the Nazis and Daimler-Benz used forced labour from civilians, prisoners of war and concentration camps victims to make up half of its 63,610 strong workforce. It admitted its part in the Nazi regime after the war and joined a German initiative ‘Remembrance, Responsibility and Future’ whose work included providing humanitarian aid to former forced labourers. How many of their forced workers died before they could be recompensed? Similarly, how many of Amazon’s, and indeed any of the other companies signing this Roundtable agreement, victims – whether direct or indirect – will never see a penny or even a word recognising the violence that has blighted their lives this past decade? Are we to forgive and forget and earnestly accept Amazon has not been directly complicit in the execution of white supremacy? We should never mention again the links between Amazon and the Chans/Kiwi Farms, without whom the latter would simply not have had the funding to spread its tentacles all over the globe, infecting every continent with its single minded quest for white domination?

Never forget Amazon gave ICE facial recognition tech capable of recognising fear. Activists warned it would mean an increase in family separation and other miscarriages of justice. Will Amazon acknowledge every last victim? Or is this just a cynical ploy as I suspect, to dazzle the increasingly hostile public into a false sense of security, after all it is such a revolutionary move, never before conceived as a possibility, to actually put people, human beings, before the very thing that made these ghouls business owners in the first place, the cold hard cash that bought them the power to act with impunity for near on a decade?

Putting people first, the environment, communities, that’s socialism. It can and never will be Capitalism 2.0. Perhaps CEOs would be better suited to admitting the end stages of capitalism are proving hard for them and the fear of an impending class war is the inspiration for this confusing declaration than trying to convince us the far right would be any good at socialist values.

People who truly value humanity would never have sought to destroy it.

Beware: @TheDSGGroup is a woman hating bigot

A couple of nights ago I told a misogynist to fuck off because he said that there is no oppression in the UK, today my account has been suspended. I gave him 10 examples and he responded with misogynous fatphobia. One of his white followers immediately added me to a list ‘fugly’ and a bunch of others liked the abusive tweet.

In a week where right wing Asians have been demanding we all find the appointment of tokenistic South Asians in a racist cabinet a win for the disapora, Dick Swinging Git fulfilled his tokenistic role by denying oppression faced by the majority. I had to object.
“creatures like you”
This is what we mean when we say tokens are put in place by the white supremacist state to further oppress marginalised groups by denying their experiences. As if I’d want to ‘come together’ to talk oppression with an oppressor.

Non violent non abusive men would never speak to anyone like this, even in an argument. Not saying he would be justified if in fact I was fat, but as a slim size 8, it hits home even more, because it doesn’t matter what the reality is, gendered violence is so ingrained in society, men use fatphobia to neg us into submission. To be so casual in his attack, he wasn’t in the least bit worried that it would backfire, it’s probably served him well in the past.

Tokenistic poc have the power to flip it back and claim we are the real racists, for daring to broach the subject of oppression.

I’m Asian. I’m a genuine leftie (none of this neoliberal tory in disguise nonsense) working class, I left school at 16 yet despite this my last salary was almost 30K. I have what it takes to ‘make it’, a better grasp of English than most of the natives, I can sing, write and draw, I am hard working, diligent, and I look for solutions, I fix things or I can create new things. I have not been rewarded for my skills and abilities because I refused to step on the heads of my peers to achieve personal success.

@theDSGgroup has no such scruples, he is a small business owner who claimed to be a socialist and has amassed something like 8000 followers. He was all on board the Corbyn train until Jezza announced he would be introducing a living wage, then his principles dissipated and suddenly went full Brexit. He is everything that is wrong with Britain, the selfish attitude of someone who has only ever put his own needs first. Someone who plays the game because actually, he couldn’t bear it if people didn’t like him.

He doesn’t think I am racist but he got me suspended for racist misconduct. Can’t make it up.

When I blocked him he started hounding me from another account. Bearing in mind I have just been suspended for directing hate towards privileged right wing Asians, in a move that is entirely predictable on the part of Twitter, I was advised that harassment against me did not break the rules.

I’m done being upset by Twitter’s arbitrary rules that consistently reward bigots and disproportionately affect already marginalised people.

There is absolutely no point in my challenging this, or reacting emotionally because it will fall on deaf ears. I’m just going to make another account when I’m back from holiday and can be bothered.

In the meantime I would advise all conscientious socialist minded people raise awareness about this weasel on the left. I found I shared 5 followers with him, some of my mutuals had many more. Just give his TL a read and see for yourselves.

On the matter of oppression:

Footnote: Is it a coincidence my suspension comes on the same day Mark Field has been excused for his violence against a woman activist?

West Midlands Police don’t care about rape threats against women of colour

West Midlands police have launched an investigation into UKIP candidate Carl Benjamin aka Sargon of Akkad (a persistent and odious troll rooted in Gamergate, he was a champion for that other misogynist Elevatorgate) for saying he’d rape Jess Phillips if he were under pressure. He had previously said he wouldn’t even rape her, in 2016 when Jess discussed men threatening rape on social media.

Prior to this, in 2014, I had approached West Midlands police with a dossier of tweets aimed at me threatening to rape me, in sick detail, and death threats, suggestions to kill myself, a calculated effort on the part of gamergaters and various chan types to silence the most vocal social justice activists. They were sicced on us by the liberal leftie media (led by Helen Lewis) when we challenged their outrageously bigoted takes on minorities whilst excluding us from the conversation. At the time there was a surge in radical feminists taking a stand and ‘kill all men’ was a hyperbolic retort to the escalating harassment and stalking of women activists online. This phrase caused more of a ripple at my local plod office than the reams of threats and attempts to dox me. They said they could not prove rape threats were outside the realms of taste and decency in the context of international law and if I was so threatened I should log off the internet. Furthermore I was advised I could face criminal prosecution for my use of said phrase. I was victimised again by the very people who are supposed to keep us safe. I wasn’t going to make the same mistake again.

westmids

I said as much on social media, and challenged West Midlands police on their Twitter account for failing to do even the most basic of their duties and they blocked me. So self assured were they, that someone as insignificant as me would go unheard, they just turned their backs. I approached Jess about it on Twitter and she told me to talk to my own MP, but only after a slanging match. I tweeted Stella Creasy as well and she just ignored me. Now we’ve got everyone bending over backwards to condemn the nazi rapists who went largely ignored by the authorities for YEARS until someone ‘important’ was targeted.

I will reiterate what I said then, as pertinent as it is now; you might have more in common with them, they may share your political leanings, your skin colour, or your mutual dislike of opponents but you let them brutalise even one of us and you’ve allowed for society to take a nosedive in standards and made the world a little colder and crueller with your indifference. Doing the right thing isn’t a commendable thing really, not when we find it so easy to help the people we like. To stand for people who can do nothing for you, against injustices that have a knock on effect on us all, that’s a true measure of one’s character; to be principled in complex scenarios, and sadly we just haven’t had the leaders in place to ensure this.

It has allowed for perpetrators of ‘unpleasant comments’ to legally stand for public office.

electroal

Consider the way in which Bahar Mustafa was targeted amid calls for her to lose her job for saying “kill all white men”. Or the way Sarah Jeong was mercilessly harangued, for remarks such as “dumbass white people” by the very same Gamergate incels who no doubt informed her opinions. It’s very easy to mount campaigns to uproot and destroy the lives of women of colour yet white men can LEGALLY make threats to rape serving women MPs and the electoral commission just shrugs, minimises criminal intent and says “what can you do?”

As a society we have rewarded the worst in human traits. In the pursuit of white supremacy, a thing all white people even the ‘not racist’ ones must protect, it was easier to pretend we didn’t exist perhaps in the hopes we would succumb to threats. We haven’t and the abusers have only been empowered by the authorities’ tacit approval, so much so that they can threaten rape and stand for public office.

5 years on we haven’t killed all the men or even one, but the number of women targeted by rapists and the far right has grown out of control. Our free speech came under question but the criminal activities of rapist nazis were enabled because they are actually all on the same side.

This country has gone to shit and it isn’t because of immigrants, it’s raping paedophile nazis platformed by the mainstream media and government. Jess is perhaps best placed to change this.. FOR ALL WOMEN.. but will she?

Kiwi Farms banned on YouTube

Joshua Conner Moon and his hate site Kiwi Farms have finally been banned by Youtube. Following months if not years of reporting abuse to the site by various targets of Moon, myself included (they posted an hour long radio clip in which they discussed using an angle grinder on my vagina), it would appear in the wake of the New Zealand terror attacks, YouTube could no longer defend the right for nazis to use their platform for the proliferation of nazi propaganda, hate crimes and cyber bullying. This was long overdue, Kiwi Farms had many thousands of dedicated followers on their YouTube channel and this loss is sure to sting but the question remains; why did it take so long? The damage is already done in some respects.

New Zealand have gone one step further and banned the hate forum Kiwi Farms in their country. As easy as that. Of course this is easily bypassed used a VPN, as Moon frequently advises his followers around anonymity and slipping a finger to the authorities. No, what needs to happen is for Kiwi Farms to be erased from the face of the planet (along with all the chan spin offs), for American authorities to be held to account by all other nations who’ve suffered as a result. Moon likes to suggest all of his activities are legal in his hellscape home nation and judging by the state of their legal system and beyond, who can say? From a moral standpoint, encouraging acts of terror, hosting them, stalking and harassing vulnerable communities, goading them to suicide, discussing in detail sick paedophilic fantasies and intentions to carry them out, well, it should be illegal and I’m surprised, given all the conventions and treaties following various holocausts, these matters are at all up for debate.

We have to be willing to accept the people who are bankrolling and protecting Nazis go right to the very top of western society. They are aristocrats and bankers and WASPS and ‘community leaders’, they have access to the media and tech industry, they monetise the social media giants, and line the palms of judges and police authorities. How is it that a man who taught his dog nazi salutes is being legitimised by a supposed political party (that has failed at every stage despite primetime promotion by the BBC and countless ill fated resurrections, only to face yet another day) and allowed to stand as a political candidate for a member of the European parliament on behalf of a party that wants out of the European Union? We are well and truly down the rabbit hole here folks.

Joshua Conner Moon says he is raising money with Uphold now. He’s also getting over $1000 a month on madattheinternet.com using authorize.net. It’s a bit of a stretch to imagine these services are not aware of Moon and his hate driven activities. As far as I’m aware we had previously given Uphold a heads up and they had banned Moon so I’m wondering what’s changed. Perhaps they thought we were no longer keeping an eye on things and quietly reinstated him. For whatever it’s worth we will not be taking the pressure off until all mentions of Joshua Conner Moon and Kiwi Farms are erased from the cyberverse. Let there be only cautionary tales and scathing takedowns of nazis in their place.

As a curious sidenote, I’m wondering what it will take for the international community to intervene in this matter. It doesn’t take a helluva lot for the US or UK to poke its nose in the business of sovereign nations it does not see as a militaristic threat, under the guise of human rights and aide for civilians caught up in wars not of their making and yet here we are, in a supposedly developed nation trying to hold back the tide of creeping nazism for at least the past decade and nobody in the entire world has reached out to us in this time of need. They should be offering us refuge. They should be threatening sanctions.

Financial assets of hate figures should be frozen. They should be grounded, unable to travel, to curb the flow of propaganda. Laws must be introduced to further ensure safety of protected characteristics, as current legislation falls so woefully short. Hate forums must be banned, no ifs no buts.

Theresa May’s hostile environment has succeeded. Muslims are afraid, asylum seekers are afraid, the Windrush generation and their descendants, the disabled, young people, students, those holding a European passport.. the list goes on. Following her frankly aimless announcement the other day when she shifted the blame for the Brexit farce on MPs, leaving journalists and the general public agog at her impending statement only to dash any hopes they had of resolution or her resignation, we woke up to the news on Thursday that five Birmingham mosques were targeted in a racially motivated terrorist attack. This comes on the heels of a government pledge to double the security fund for religious buildings in the wake of the New Zealand terror attack, following several credible reports that the UK is next.

These apparently random attacks are anything but. Look at the way in which the Brexit debacle has been fanned out to build a sense of urgency and resulting impatience, the rollings news is relentless in its breakdown of every little seemingly irrelevant twist and turn. I’m so jaded by the mainstream news I watch as regular folk are swept up by the narrative because they still think they’re playing by the rules and the comedown they experience when yet again, Teflon Theresa issues a non statement and lives to see another day. She fucked the mandate and survived. Her party, embroiled in tax fraud scandals and electoral fraud continues to hold onto power, despite bringing the country to its knees, at home and on the world stage. Regular folks are plodding by in a daze, completely bamboozled by it all and if they’re criminally minded, as white supremacists are, they’re going to take matters into their own hands. Even her own MPs are speaking out against her toxic narrative, labeling it divisive and an incitement to violence, proving that parliamentarians know exactly what they’re doing when they allude to problematic groups.

Brexit means Brexit they said, which translates to ‘pakis out’. The longer they eke this out the more regular fascists are going to react, because they have been indoctrinated by the media and politicians. Theresa May is a narcissistic sociopath. She didn’t get to where she is through hard work and dedication, she’s manipulative and ruthless. She doesn’t meet with victims of terror attacks, look at the way she treated her own citizens after Grenfell. Even the queen, albeit begrudgingly, rolled up to pay her respects but not the tyrant Theresa. She’s a snake charmer. Her knowing looks down the camera and sneaky side eyes might work on her gammon henchmen but she must be apprehended for her crimes, which are countless. What use are security measures on an environment of her own creation? This is like a really badly written script with no thought for continuity and the only reason it has so far prevailed is because we have let it. Similarly, Farage and his (reportedly) 100,000 strong Brexiteer army are already causing chaos across the UK. Their ‘go slow’ protests on busy motorways are a sign of things to come. This is the entitlement of little Englanders, caked spittle in the corners of their thin lipped gammon traps, who’ll threaten violence against workers striking for better working conditions but turn up like Morris dancers with bells on when there’s some racism to be had.

We can’t afford stuff apparently so 100s of 1000s of needy and vulnerable British citizens have died but throwing millions at mosques because the hostile environment was successful, we’re going to just ignore that are we? Think about how that will impact on fascists. Not because we care about their feelings but because we want to stay alive. Think about this attack on a young person in Stanwell, just going about his business only to be confronted by a horror movie monster wielding a knife and baseball bat. Sajid Javid says he is with us, which is ironic given that his party is squarely to blame for the hostile environment all around us. Add to this the revelation that police forces in the UK are failing to identify almost half of all suspects in racially motivated attacks and you can probably understand why it feels like the worst is yet to come.

Google ‘racially aggravated’ and select results for the last week. These page 11 stories are dotted through national and local newspapers, sporadic and understated so we’re never alarmed at the rate with which they’re happening. If these attacks were being committed by men of colour they’d be splashed all over front pages, given the centrefold, we’d read nothing else for weeks. White ISIS has been allowed to brutalise minorities unchecked and now they’re grown too large to slam on the brakes. I still maintain there simply aren’t the numbers to for one nation to carry this on their own, which is why Nazis have joined forces all over the white supremacist west. This process took years, and could have been prevented.

Intense human suffering is on the horizon. Atrocities we said we’d never see again are billed for the foreseeable. Sadly I don’t think we are going to avoid it. Only once they have committed the unimaginable will we be able to justify a violent retaliation. The Silicon Valley trials has a particular ring to it. I can think of several world leaders I’d like to see rotting in The Hague. I can only hope I will survive long enough to see them brought to justice.

(One of the comments posted after I blogged on Kiwi Farms and their response to New Zealand authorities request for data)

New Zealand’s National Treasure

In the days since the white supremacist terrorist attack on a mosque in Christchurch New Zealand we’ve seen things that have shocked us, angered us, left us feeling helpless. As the British government doubles the security fund for religious buildings to make mosques safer here, repercussions are felt all over the world as we feel them here. However there is one shining light pouring through the cracks, soothing the almost physical pain at times, and that is New Zealand’s human prime minister. Never mind that they’ve just had a terror attack in which so many perished, I want to live there.

From the way she has handled the victims and their families to the reforms she is firing through and the respect and dignity with which she carries herself, knowing exactly the right thing to say and do, well I’d hang up my anarchist hat for her. She refuses to refer to the terrorist by his name, because he wanted notoriety and I love her so hard for that. She labelled it a terrorist attack, actions that place her head and shoulders above our government and media. She is a just leader. She understands coercive power and control and toxic masculinity, she won’t compromise on her values. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern doesn’t believe putting a scarf on her head, as a feminist, is contradicting her beliefs because she’s not doing it for herself, but for them, those who’ve so cruelly suffered in her nation. I’m sure this tiny gesture would have been so lovingly received, in this world the bar is so low that even basic respect is a radical act.

jacinda

I know that my heart flutters when I see her in the news. I feel an affinity with her because she knows right and wrong and how to feel and think appropriately. She’s like Jeremy Corbyn in that respect. I’m sure they would listen to ideas they don’t necessarily believe and could be swayed with logic. I think they’re open to regular people in a way that world leaders the world over just aren’t. The 1% have a lot to answer for.

New Zealand is a place I’ve wanted to visit. Never met a Kiwi I didn’t like. They tell me that it isn’t so great, there are problems lurking under the veneer but then isn’t everywhere like that? Surely what matters is the resistance to these issues? I don’t care that there will always be racists so long as there are plenty of us willing to punch the fuck out of them.

Plus these guys, they’d be good to have on side, don’t you think?

haka

Love to the people of New Zealand for respecting and honouring humanity.
